Dragon’s Crown!

Vanillaware just announced their latest game, Dragon’s Crown, a beautiful, beautiful, bee-yoo-tee-ful hand painted, 2d, high fantasy action RPG. This game is a love letter delivered by cruise missile with its sites set square on my heartstrings. It’s as if the developers had asked me “hey man, I want to make your most favorite game ever. What do you want it be to like?” I’m giddy with delight! Haven’t felt this excited for a game in years!

Anyway, I got my hands on some ultra high rez art. Have at it!

I am so glad Vanillaware is making this game. Its surely is great to see that Vanillaware is making another game. I’m glad this game is coming. So excited. I’m looking forward to this game.

Nice to see Vanillaware release a new game, I just hope it’s not too much of an Odin Sphere clone.

Be warned though, their games always look amazing but are often lacking on the gamplay front. Be prepared for that.

It’s got an 80′s sense of aesthetic, they would be distinct as 28mm miniatures

I completely agree with you – this game was made for people like us! I’m an animator and illustrator myself and, needless to say, seeing this kind of 2D work is thrilling.

My favourite game is Capcom’s Shadow Over Mystara, which I absolutely love, so naturally I am looking forward to this just about as much as anyone possibly could. I’m going to buy a PSVita just to support it!

Oh, wow, thanks for getting a hand on all the high rez art!

I love looking at that stuff. These in particular are fun because I always forget how messy Korean concept art can be, letting all the focus being on the gesture and the brushstrokes communicating a lot of info.

For some reason, I feel like a bit more loving care went into the detailing of the Elf’s pinup somehow. Perhaps just basic artist’s affection?
